WeDemocrats an independent political group, based in the United States that organizes and informs an online progressive activist community. A resource for progressive grassroots organizations, working for open, accountable government and the right of all citizens to be involved in shaping our nation's public policies.

It is because of the active participation and help of our groups and members that WeDemocrats are able to rise up and stand out against our opponents. WeDems combines grassroot advocacy by its members through various political activities, including (but not limited to) voter registration drives with netroots activism and community outreach, and to involve young people in the political process.

As we aggressively reach out to progressive groups, we continue to embrace community members and get them actively involved in various activities to help maintain and increase the organizations reach, find, train, and support fiscally responsible and progressive candidates at all levels of office across the country. We harness the power of our enormous grassroots network to get these candidates elected and to work towards positive change from the precinct up. We want to become an adjunct to the party, one to be taken seriously.

Where do we want to go? Or Our Goals?

  1. We want to organize and inform an online progressive activist community. (Communication is the key - ways to communicate is by email, online messengers, telephone, or face-to-face methods. The most important part of communication is the dedication by each member of the team to use the chosen tools regularly.)
  2. We want to be a resource for progressive grassroots organizations, working for open, accountable government and the right of all citizens to be involved in shaping our nation's public policies. (Resources are essential to team building and they must be used wisely and efficiently. This can only be done by effective goal setting, listening, facilitation skills, consensus building, and a willingness to communicate.)
  3. We want to combine grassroots advocacy with netroots activism. (Manuals for organizers, coordinators, candidates - Blogs, Webzine, Podcasts)
  4. We want to have an active community outreach program, one that involves young people in the political process, including middle school, high school and college students (Help Packs, Civics Poster Contest - Lectures in Schools - Student Coordinators - Food Banks, etc.)
  5. We want to find, train, and support fiscally responsible and progressive candidates at all levels of office.
  6. We want to become an adjunct to the party, one to be taken seriously.

WeDemocrats.org mobilizes members to participate in the electoral process, influence the ideals of the Democratic Party and develops the skills of the members to serve as leaders at the local and national level.

A coordinated campaign where electoral politics, activist, social justice, cultural and traditional party line organizations come together to create a strategic voter contact program. We reach voters traditional campaigns do not, adding an extra 5-12% to Democratic turnout in targeted precincts.

WeDems' Partnership Programs foster a stronger relationship with, and revolutionize the operation of, all state and local chapters by creating and implementing the following:

  • Chapter Building Programs-Building Strong Chapters
  • Alliance Campaign Programs-Building a Progressive Voting Bloc

The National Operations programs continue to build the infrastructure and operations of WeDemocrats and to expand upon WeDems' capacity to lead the national progressive political movement.

All of our programs seek to build the progressive-base for Democratic politics, provide hands-on and intensive training of members and secure a progressive Democratic agenda for the next 40 years.

Historically, campaign season began a few months before the elections and ended immediately after Election Day. Too often, the records of our efforts during an election cycle were neither captured nor analyzed in the flurry of post election activity. The result? Lost momentum, missed opportunities, and a political culture with little ability to assess and learn from the previous cycle's investments.

WeDemocrats.org was created to change that scenario. As a nationwide, progressive coalition organization focused on a permanent campaign to elect progressives at all levels of government. We are committed to the balance between investing in solid campaign fundamentals and adopting innovative new techniques.

We coordinate outreach efforts on our shared voter file - tracking mail, phones, and door contacts on a voter-by-voter basis, all maintained in a massive data base. And in the process are helping the entire progressive community grow stronger.

We will influence the political landscape, stimulate economic growth among participating businesses and industries and use the American dollar as an incentive for corporate transparency and responsibility.

WeDems has become a nationwide network of grassroots groups that can make a national difference. By pressuring local elected officials, state legislators and members of Congress we are helping the Democratic Party find its voice.

WeDemocrats.org  primarily focuses on nonpartisan education and advocacy on important national issues.
